In his buckskins and feather bonnet, Chief White Elk certainly looked the part when he spoke to the Rotary club of Saskatoon in 1921. He had held 'fundraising' Indian Shows across North America, in order to ostensibly raise funds for 'starving' children on reserves.

The club was apparently so impressed by his address and charitable commitment that it presented him with a large flag in honour of the occasion.

Unfortunately, it was later discovered that the good Chief White Elk was an Italian - American actor and con man, who's real name was Edgardo Laplante.
